Nonpartisan on Political Candidates and Parties

The League is nonpartisan in that it does not support or oppose any political candidate or party. This policy of nonpartisanship is a source of strength to the League of Women Voters. It is the cornerstone of our voter service efforts. Candidates are willing to appear in our forums because they have confidence that they will be treated objectively.

Remaining Nonpartisan in Hyper-partisan Times

The League of Women Voters of Larimer County is a political but nonpartisan organization

What does this mean? Our League is nonpartisan in that it does not support or oppose any political candidate or party. It is political in that it takes positions on selected governmental issues and actions after member study and agreement. The Board of Directors of our League has the responsibility to maintain the nonpartisanship of the organization. The President of our League serves as our Spokesperson.

Political in Taking Studied Positions

The League is political in that it takes positions on selected issues concerning government, social policy, natural resources, and international relations after member study and input. These positions exist at the national, state, and local levels. Based on these positions, the League may advocate to influence public policy. Local positions must be consistent with the Principles adopted by the League of Women Voters of the United States.
